Parts & Maintenance

Gas-powered RC cars require regular inspection, proper fuel use, and basic maintenance. NitroRC provides parts assistance and practical guidance for keeping your RC car ready for outdoor performance.

1. Why Maintenance Matters

Gas-powered RC cars are mechanical performance products. Regular maintenance helps improve reliability, reduce unexpected issues, protect major components, and extend product life.

Before and after every drive, customers should check key parts such as screws, tires, suspension, fuel system, throttle, brake, steering, filters, and batteries.

2. Basic Maintenance Areas

Fuel System

Check fuel lines, fuel tank, cap, carburetor area, and fuel mixture before starting the engine.

Engine Area

Keep the engine area clean. Check air filter, spark plug, pull starter, and cooling areas regularly.

Drive System

Inspect gears, shafts, clutch area, differential, wheels, and moving parts after outdoor driving.

Control System

Check transmitter battery, receiver battery, servo response, steering direction, brake, and throttle movement.

3. Before Driving Checklist

Before starting or driving your gas RC car, complete a basic safety and condition check.

  • Check that screws, nuts, wheels, and body clips are secure.
  • Confirm steering, throttle, and brake response before starting.
  • Check transmitter and receiver battery power.
  • Use correct gasoline and 2-stroke oil mixture.
  • Make sure the air filter is clean and properly installed.
  • Check the fuel line and fuel tank for leakage.
  • Operate only in an open and safe outdoor area.

4. After Driving Checklist

After driving, clean and inspect the RC car before storage. Outdoor driving may expose the car to dust, dirt, grass, sand, stones, and oil residue.

  • Remove dust, dirt, and debris from the chassis and moving parts.
  • Check for loose screws, worn tires, damaged suspension, or bent parts.
  • Inspect fuel lines and engine area.
  • Check gears and shafts for abnormal wear.
  • Store the car in a dry and safe place.
  • Replace damaged or worn parts before the next drive.

5. Fuel and Engine Care

Most gas-powered RC cars require gasoline mixed with suitable 2-stroke engine oil. The correct ratio should follow the product instructions or manufacturer recommendation.

Incorrect fuel mixture may cause poor performance, overheating, engine damage, or starting problems.

Do not use unknown fuel, old fuel, unsuitable oil, or incorrect mixture. Fuel-related damage is generally not considered a product defect.

6. Spare Parts Support

NitroRC may assist customers with compatible spare parts for selected models. Parts availability may vary depending on product model, batch, supplier availability, and compatibility.

To request parts support, please provide clear product details so we can help identify the correct component.

  • Product name and model
  • Photo of the part you need
  • Photo of the full car if possible
  • Description of the part location
  • Order number if purchased from NitroRC

7. Common Wear Parts

Some parts naturally wear out with use, especially when driving off-road, racing, jumping, or operating on rough surfaces.

  • Tires and wheels
  • Brake parts
  • Clutch components
  • Gears and shafts
  • Air filters
  • Spark plugs
  • Body shell and clips
